12 Days of Christmas: An Overview

Well, it’s over.
A lot of people are grumbling about the selection of items made available on 12 Days this year. But was it really that bad?

Foo Fighters

If I’m honest, it was a little bit of a let down that the final instalment from 12 Days of Christmas was another single.
Still, Foo Fighters is nearer my choice of music than the other offerings so not all bad.
Again the single is a mixture of live performance, studio and video (also live). The tracks are decent and enjoyable stuff.

4/5 (particularly liked ‘walk‘, video a whopping 79MB but only 5:35 long)

On the Eve of Twelfth Night Apple have offered us a book.

Day Eleven

Lonely Planet: Best in travel 2012

I’ve had a flick through this now and find it both interesting and annoying at the same time. I don’t mind this being on 12 Days, and it is the entire book too, but this is a big book – 129MB. That’s a bit too big for my liking.
The reason is the undeniably rich photography used in the book.
The main areas of the book are place to try, around the world. I can’t help thinking though that no one in this economic climate is going to be able to afford these destinations.
Except perhaps a photojournalist, for Lonely Planet.

3/5 (full book, lovely photography, too big, unlikely to inspire travel)

Here’s something different!

Day Four

“The Redbreast” by Jo Nesbo

Ah now, a book I can appreciate. From a well known crime author too.
A little old, perhaps, as it was published in 2000 but none the less may be good.
I cannot comment on the accuracy of Don Bartlett‘s translation but certainly the first chapter reads well.
Looking forward to the read!
